Just In: Beck Has Announced His First Ever Australian Orchestral Tour This May
Dust off your skinniest jeans and your softest feelings, because Beck is heading back to Australia this May with a run of lush, orchestral shows that feel less mosh pit, more velvet curtain call.
It’s been a minute. The last time your favourite oddball played in Australia was in 2023, when he hit stages across the country for headline shows and festival slots. Now, he’s returning with something far more cinematic: five special performances backed by one of the country’s leading session orchestras, Philharmonia Australia, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Where And When Is Beck Playing?
Beck’s 2026 Australian tour dates:
- May 7, 8 and 9 at the Sydney Opera House, Sydney
- May 12 and 13 at the Palais Theatre, Melbourne
The Sydney shows will feature the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, while Melbourne will see him team up with Philharmonia Australia. Expect sweeping strings, dramatic builds, goosebumps, and a reworking of the catalogue that made him one of the most shape-shifting artists of the past thirty years.
Wait, Who Is Beck Again (And Why Do We Love Him)?
Beck is the rare artist who can write a slacker anthem, a heart-splintering ballad and a funk-freak dance track without breaking a sweat. He broke through in the ’90s with hip-hop/slacker rock classic Loser, then swerved expectations repeatedly with albums like Odelay, the heartbreak classic Sea Change and the Grammy-winning Morning Phase.
We love him because he never sits still. One era he’s sampling and genre-hopping like a musical magpie, the next he’s delivering orchestral folk that feels like it was pressed from moonlight. He’s won multiple Grammys, including Album of the Year for his 2017 album, Colors, and built a career on refusing to be pinned down. Seeing that catalogue reimagined with a live orchestra at venues this grand? That’s not just a gig, that’s a moment.

Five shows. Two cities. One of the most inventive artists of our time, backed by a full orchestra. Sydney and Melbourne, this is your cue.
