Head to Victoria’s goldrush region this spring either in-person or through the magic of the internet for the annual Bendigo Bloom Festival. Across the region, there will be a selection of over 20 cultural and outdoor events that have been designed to be enjoyed in-person and virtually—the main star of which is the tulip blossom, a stunning collection of over 50,000 tulips coming into full bloom.
The star of the show, the tulips, bloom from anywhere from mid-September until early October. The entire collection of tulips will be on display along the Bendigo Pall Mall and inside the Conservatory Gardens which you visit in person—or tune into the insanely therapeutic Tulip live cam. Move over Netflix.
If flowers aren’t your vibe, the Djaara Lights are sure to illuminate some interest. This innovative immersive light-show experience has been designed to shift the focus back on the land and culture of the Bendigo region. Working alongside the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student community, the exhibition will feature a range of large-scale luminescent artwork with augmented reality experiences integrated throughout.
Alongside the headline events, Bloom will also feature ‘Uncorked’—a ten-day celebration of Bendigo’s wine region, featuring strong reds and Mediterranean-style vintages across a series of venues throughout the city. Explore the heritage and historical buildings of Bendigo. Including some that were previously not open to the public with Bendigo Open House, and take in the abstract artwork of Brett Whiteley, with his 'Drawing Is Everything' exhibition.
The entire Bloom Festival will be running from September through to November so there’s still a chance Melburnian’s will get to experience some of the action. For more information head over to Bendigo Bloom here.
