Breadcetera Goes Coastal: Malvern East’s Beloved Modern Market Has Landed In Mount Eliza
When Breadcetera opened its Malvern East doors in May 2025, it quickly became a community favourite. Somewhere to slow down for a coffee and a sandwich on a Sunday morning, a quick stop to pick up the forgotten pasta sauce for dinner, a loaf of fresh bread for tomorrow, or a bunch of flowers on the way to the party you didn't quite prepare for.
In the year since, it's become a Wattletree Road staple. Now, Breadcetera is expanding, bringing its signature yellow storefront to the Mornington Peninsula, with a Mount Eliza store set to open on 2 May.
Led by Mount Eliza local Natalie Osborne (whose background includes owning and running Melbourne cafes Piccolo and Mister Zen), the new Breadcetera has been designed with the Mornington community top of mind.
"Living in the area, you get a sense of the similarities between here and the communities in Malvern East and South Yarra," Osborne says.
"More than just expanding the brand and picking random locations, we're about connecting with similar communities that really value good food, good coffee, and community engagement."
Osborne describes Breadcetera as a "modern neighbourhood market".

"It's not a cafe, it's not a supermarket. It's more of a curated, well-stocked pantry. It's something that we've really put a lot of effort into—picking brands and products that are of a certain quality and calibre, curating them all into one store," she says.
With a little more room to play, the Mount Eliza market will also hero local producers on top of its tried-and-true products. In particular, bread will come from Tuerong Farm.
"It's all very, very similar to the Malvern store, however, we are bringing in some local suppliers that people really love and resonate with in the Peninsula," Osborne says.
Fresh sandwiches, paninis and seasonal salads will be made daily, with pantry staples making dinner easier, and take-home meals like pasta and pies taking a load off on no-cook nights. Of course, a selection of pastries and treats (tiramisu, anyone?), will also rotate through the counter cabinet.

Malvern regulars will be glad to know Allpress coffee and a gift selection from Maison Balzac, Dinosaur Designs and House of Rocco will stay consistent across both locations.
For those who know Breadcetera, it'll feel familiar, but not the same. For those who don't, it'll offer a new local they didn't know they needed.
"We really want to create a space that's calm and inviting, and we've worked really hard with our design team to make it such a beautiful and warm environment," Osborne says.
With timber joinery, terrazzo flooring, mosaic tiling and touches of bronze, the space draws on European markets for inspiration.
"We want it to feel really easy and familiar—somewhere you can drop in daily and get that real caring hospitality."
It seems locals are already picking up on that hospitality, with plenty of love in the weeks before opening.
"There's been so much buzz around it," Osborne says, "We've had heaps of people stopping by as the shop's being set up, welcoming us to the neighbourhood."
Breadcetera Mount Eliza officially opens its doors on 2 May, and to celebrate, the team are pouring free coffees all weekend long.
Sitting at 26 Ranelagh Drive, Mount Eliza, Breadcetera will open seven days a week, 7:30am to 4pm.
