As Melburnians fetch thicker layers from the depths of their wardrobes, Japanese fashion powerhouse UNIQLO has been cooking up a pop-up to stave off the frigid winter months.
Taking over Emporium Melbourne on Thursday June 6, keep your eyes peeled for a colossal HEATTECH top near the flagship store. Once inside, thread-hungry visitors will be able to walk through the giant HEATTECH, experience the heat, and enter their details to receive a voucher for a free HEATTECH top—redeemable at UNIQLO Emporium.
Don your finest pair of pleated wide pants and aim to get there early, as the day will be a classic first-come-first-serve operation.
Here’s everything to expect on the day.
Giant HEATTECH Installation
Taking the concept of ‘baggy chic’ to a new level, it’ll be impossible to miss this interactive art piece looming over the Emporium. Stroll through the Giant T-Shirt like it’s a fashion-forward gazebo, before snapping Polaroids using thermal imagery effects—even the photo booth is keeping in theme.
Once you’ve scanned the QR code and entered your email address, you’ll receive your ‘Thermie’ to smatter across your IG Stories, plus a voucher for a selected HEATTECH item to redeem at the UNIQLO Emporium store. The days of shivering through June to late August will soon be a thing of the past.
Free Goodies
Running from 10am to 7pm (while stocks last), with 2500 vouchers for free HEATTECH thermal tops to giveaway. As is often the case with free giveaways though, the early bird gets the clothes.
The first 40 people in line will also walk away with a gift bag, which is enough incentive to skip work for an hour or so. For those who missed out on gift bags, do your best to stand out in line and catch the attention of UNIQLO reps handing out free gear and accessories throughout the day.
Can’t make the pop-up in person? Not to fret, an AR filter competition will be running on Instagram, with two $500 UNIQLO vouchers up for grabs. Check UNIQLO’s page on the day for the low-down.

All eyes will be on UNIQLO’s HEATTECH range, the beloved garment of choice for wintery city dwellers, using Japanese technology to convert body energy into heat within the garments. The tech features in pants, tops, accessories and more, and is likely to be a proven lifesaver for those who feel the cold deep in their bones.
