Announced earlier in 2022, the Greenline Project is a $300 million proposal to transform a four-kilometre stretch of the city from the Birrarung (Yarra) river to the Bolte bridge.

With plans that are reminiscent of the Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York and the Park de Docks in Paris, the Greenline Project is aimed at transforming the route into a series of boardwalk promenades, lush parks with open spaces, with native plantings and environmental renewal systems throughout.

“Our landscape architecture and design experts have crafted an incredible vision for what the Greenline Project could look like – with stunning boardwalks, event spaces, native vegetation and outdoor dining," says Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Cap.

Led by landscape architects T.C.L and designers Aspect Studios, the proposal features five distinct precincts throughout the entire four-kilometre stretch—each will feature its own unique characteristics and amenities.

With brand-new performance spaces, ecological experiences, open lawns, activity spaces, outdoor dining and more, the new project proposal also aims to provide significant recognition of contemporary Wurundjeri culture and heritage.
