This Local Fine Booze Label Just Released A Ready-To-Serve Negroni With An Aussie Twist

By Rick Stephens

In the not too distant past, the idea of a bottled cocktail would nary raise an eyebrow, though since the event of lockdowns and a few quick thinkers moving at pace, the previously overlooked booze category was given new life.

Championing the ready-to-serve cocktail is Home Grown, who make the good stuff with nothing but local spirits and produce—and their latest release, the Sparkling Raspberry Negroni is a bonafide Aussie summer essential.

The story behind the OG Negroni goes like this: Italy’s Count Negroni asked a bartender to give his Americano a little extra kick by replacing the soda water with gin all the way back in 1919. What resulted was a classic that still holds relevance today. While its origins are firmly rooted in Europe, the digestif has been adopted worldwide with Australians forming a specific fondness for the drink—so, it only makes sense that someone would go and put an Aussie spin on it, right?

Home Grown’s Sparkling Raspberry Negroni brings together an all-star cast of Aussie spirits, and in turn reimagines the quintessential cocktail. For the base, they’ve called in Melbourne Gin Company’s dry gin and Maidenii’s Sweet Vermouth that’s packed with key botanicals like strawberry gum, wattle seed and river mint. And for that riff on the classic? It’s a healthy splash of Marionette Bitters and a handful of Australian raspberries.

None, some, or a lot of that may sound like jargon, but what you really need to know is it’s a damn refreshing drop that pairs up perfectly with your summer ahead. All that’s left to do now is add some ice and garnish with a slice of grapefruit. Order your Sparkling Raspberry Negroni here.
