Huzzah Is The New Glen Iris Hangout Built For Community
Hidden behind Glen Iris station, Huzzah is part beer garden, part restaurant, part community hub—darts, pool, bocce and board games make it feel more like a social club than an eatery or taphouse.
Founded by Steve Jeffares, who co-founded Stomping Ground, The Local Taphouse and the GABS craft beer festivals, Huzzah feels intentional in every detail.
From the live-streamed local public transport times on a TV over the bar telling you exactly how long you've got until your next train, to the NeighbourGOOD house beer, of which 50 cents from every pint sold goes to local community clubs and initiatives—everything has been thought of, and all with locals in mind.

“We’re not chasing trends or trying to be everything to everyone. Huzzah is designed to grow with our community—hosting family lunches, casual dates, birthday drinks, long catch-ups and spontaneous midweek get togethers," says Jeffares.
Walk in and you're met with a long archway, decorated with greenery and fairy lights, tables line the way underneath. To your right, you'll find more seating, including prime spectator spots for the in-built bocce court, pool table and darts room. Towards the back is a loosely separated, slightly more formal dining area for anyone who prefers table service or a little space from the games.

“Huzzah is about finding joy in the everyday,” says Jeffares. “It’s a place to drop in for one drink and accidentally stay for three. Somewhere relaxed, welcoming and unpretentious—the kind of venue you want in your neighbourhood.”
The food menu combines pub favourites (fish and chips, a cheeseburger and schnitty), pinsa and a handful of elevated mains—barramundi with pea and mint puree, blackened chicken with sambal and sour cucumber and sirloin or scotch fillet with your choice of sauce: chimichurri, red wine jus or peppercorn.
As for drinks, the tap list is long, covering "crispy bois" to "gateway hops" and "fruity numbers", even including the Two Bays Gluten-Free Pale Ale and the alcohol-free Heaps Normal Draught. A smaller wine list is paired with a selection of spritzes, cocktails and mocktails.
