What You Need To Know About The Online Festival Supporting Emerging Artists

5th Jul 2021

The last 18 months have had a devastating effect on the music industry, with many budding musicians feeling the brunt of the halt on live music events. To help support artists in need, Isol-Aid and global creative platform 99designs by Vistaprint have joined forces to launch Isol-Aid Homegrown—a collaboration providing creative and financial support to some of the most exciting emerging bands and musicians across Australia and New Zealand.

Here's everything you need to know about the online phenomenon.

The Program

Isol-Aid Homegrown is a 16-week program whereby emerging local acts are invited to perform 30 minute live sets alongside established artists as part of Isol-Aid’s online festival. Some of the impressive artists featuring in the festival lineup include First Nations singer-songwriter Emily Wurramara, Melbourne-based, New Zealand-born singer-songwriter Lakyn, and angelic folk duo Charm of Finches (trust us when we say, you won't want to miss them).

Not only is there a chance to perform as a part of the festival, 25 acts will also receive $2,000 worth of design work from professional freelance artists from the 99designs community. The $2,000 can be used to create promotional materials such as t-shirts, posters, album art and other merch to help reach new and existing fans, and take their careers to the next level.

But that’s not all—one act will also be selected by a panel of judges to receive a career-changing $10,000 grant to boost their creative growth alongside a dedicated mentoring session from Killing Heidi singer and solo artist Ella Hooper, who is leading the Homegrown judging panel. One thing is for sure if you’ve got any muso mates you’re going to want to send this their way.

Nominate Yourself Or Your Faves

If you want to get in on some of these epic opportunities or know someone who would, from July 5th you can nominate your favourite emerging acts (or musicians can nominate themselves) to be a part of Isol-Aid Homegrown, here.

To qualify for the creative support, the nominee must be from Australia or New Zealand and perform original music. That’s it! To perform as part of Isol-Aid Homegrown, acts must also have their own TikTok account.

Details

The first acts will perform via their own TikTok accounts as part of Isol-Aid Homegrown on Wednesday 14 July from 6 until 7.30pm and then every following fortnight on Wednesdays live on TikTok and the Isol-Aid website.
