LB’s Record Bar Is Bringing Retro Cool To Meyers Place
Melbourne’s bar scene is in its vinyl era and the newest name dropping the needle is LB’s Record Bar, opening Friday 28 November on iconic Meyers Place. The venue marks Merivale’s first Melbourne opening with Michael and Zara Madrusan, best known for The Everleigh and Bar Margaux, running the show.
Walking in feels like stepping into a late-night house party hosted by someone with enviably good taste. The Madrusans have built the vibe around a vinyl-only music program, with every record hand-picked from Melbourne’s independent stores. Expect local DJs and artists spinning disco, soul and deep-cut gems while warm lighting, mirror balls and the original horseshoe bar dial up the nostalgia.

Drinks here are agave-forward and fun, with the silky, aerated Dancefloor Martini taking centre stage. Ice is a central feature, from hand-cut clear blocks to the Daiquiri Snow Cone which can be served with a kick or zero-proof.
Executive Chef Jowett Yu keeps things snacky and share-friendly with a tight Spanish-inspired menu. Expect premium seafood conservas, charcuterie and patatas fritas—exactly the kind of bar snacks that disappear while you’re distracted flipping through a new record.
Wrapped in vintage vinyl, custom speakers and timber-terrazzo bar tops, LB’s is designed for settling in. Soft carpet, warm colours and that gorgeous original horseshoe bar make it dangerously easy to stay for “just one more.”
