Save The Date, Mona Foma Is Returning To Tasmania This January

And now for some good news, the summer iteration of Australia’s most hedonistic festival, Mona Foma, will return to Tasmania late January from Friday 15 January to Sunday 17 January in Launceston, and Friday 22 January to Sunday 24 January in Hobart.

The addition of Hobart dates to 2021’s celebrations come as a response to the change in circumstances due to COVID-19, and aim to give Tasmania and its industries a head start in their post-pandemic recovery. And as you'd assume, they’ll be doing so in an expectedly MONA fashion.

“Mona Foma thrives on reinvention and we are compelled to do that big time in January 2021. One weekend in Launceston, and one weekend in Hobart, to spread the love. Great Tasmanian artists, unusual venues, and an irrepressible creativity.” said Brian Ritchie, Mona Foma Curator.

The full program will be released later this year, and it’s expected both line-ups will be a Tasmania-centric affair not only because of the current travel restrictions, but to support the southern state’s arts industry.

With several restrictions placed on travel to and from Tasmanian borders, here’s hoping interstaters can head down the beautiful, dizzying rabbit hole that is Mona Foma come January 2021.
