Whether you're celebrating mum, nan or the mother figures in your life, you need the right place (and the right menu) to make Mother's Day truly special. Luckily, Melbourne's best restaurants are pulling out all the stops with long lunches, one-off fine dining, comfort cuisine and family-friendly feasts. Not to mention luxe upgrades and even gifts.

All you have to do is find the food she'll love (Middle Eastern or Mod Asian? Filipino or French?) and book it in.

Here are our top picks for the best restaurants in Melbourne to celebrate mum.

Harriot

555 Collins Street, Melbourne

Image: Harriot | Supplied

Can’t take her to France? Harriot is the next best thing. This French-inspired bistro from the Tipo 00 team is pulling out all the stops for mum with a $90 special set menu. She’ll snack on delicate dishes like rainbow trout with kohlrabi and cress, have a little sourdough and butter, and choose between flathead with wild garlic and sprouting cauliflower, wagyu flank with parsley root and radicchio or polenta ravioli with kale and comté, with chocolate sabayon tart to finish. Add on some oysters and a glass of Champagne, and she may as well be dining in Paris.

Supernormal

180 Flinders Lane

Give mum an iconic menu experience. For $95pp, Supernormal is whipping out the certified hits like the New England lobster roll and tender chicken and prawn dumplings alongside a suite of bites including seasonal pickles and a delicate tuna and nori cracker, and specialty mains like roast five-spiced duck breast with ginger and sweet and sour blood plums. The set finishes with a flourish on cotton soft cheesecake with caramelised black figs and honey. Diners under 12 are also welcome to a little chef's menu at $55pp. Make mum's arrival extra special by preordering a bouquet from Morning Market when you book (before 5 May), so the blooms will be waiting at the table. This upgrade is also available when booking for Mother's Day at Culter and Cumulus Inc.

Lollo

408 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

Image: Lollo | Supplied

Treat Mum to a full-blown Italian feast at Lollo. Designed for sharing at $120pp, you can expect decadence from the moment you sit down. Mum scores a complimentary glass of Moët, naturally, followed by a family-style lunch spread: think burrata with salsa verde, fire-grilled barramundi, and bolognese ragu. For mums with a secret sweet tooth, the Lollo dessert buffet is a dream come true. With Italian treats ranging from ricotta pistachio cannoli and Baileys tiramisu to a roasted rhubarb and strawberry trifle, she definitely won’t be leaving hungry. You can find Lollo inside W Melbourne; book your special Mother’s Day lunch between 12pm–3pm here.

Saadi

18 Punch Lane, Melbourne

Something very special is happening at Saadi this Mother’s Day. A $100pp menu comprises dishes inspired or beloved by the chefs’ own mothers and grandmothers (adorable). A tartlet with chef Aditya Suresh's mum’s keerai masiyal (braised greens), a Kingfish tartare with achaar made to Saavni Krishnan's grandmother’s family recipe, spit-roasted chicken dhansak inspired by Krishnan's Bombay family lunches and their mums’ favourite Saadi sweet treat, a cardamom-spiced ice cream cake. Approved by mums, for mums.

Maha

21 Bond Street, Melbourne

Image: Maha | Supplied

A truly luxurious Middle Eastern feast, Maha’s $195pp set menu is your ticket to being the favourite child in 2026. Five courses with a plethora of unique dishes, like salt cod kibbeh with taramasalata, callops with Beirut butter, crumbed rack of lamb with eggplant zaalouk, harissa burnt butter jus and pear, almond and ras el hanout clafoutis with burnt honey ice cream. That’s not even half of it, and if you want to indulge further, upgrade to the optional steak service. Lunch or dinner, it'll be absolute decadence.

Palay

135 Greeves Street, Fitzroy

Treat mum to a tour of Fitzroy Filipino flavour with Palay’s Nanay (meaning ‘mum) set menu. For $100, you’ll start with kinilaw sa gata (beef tapas skewers) and soft pandesal rolls with mushroom truffle pate, move to crispy pata (a pork leg that’s boiled, deep fried, and served with dipping sauce) and and dinakdakan (chopped, grilled pork with a tangy, creamy sauce). Then finish on the dessert of the day, a creamy leche flan.

Beverly Rooftop

Level 24/627 Chapel Street, South Yarra

Image: Beverly Rooftop | Supplied

Mum deserves the best view with her elegant lunch. Beverly Rooftop’s $120pp four-course set lunch is seasonal, elegant and refined, with delicate bluefin tuna crudo, luxe lobster and prawn casarecce, rotisserie-style Old Bay chicken and a classic poached mango pavlova. Upgrade her to Champagne on arrival or a bougie caviar bump. She's worth it, after all. Kids are welcome too, with a $55pp two-course for smaller appetites. The ultimate elevated celebration with a sweeping, sunny city skyline.

Le Bon Ton

51 Gipps Street, Collingwood

Image: Le Bon Ton | Supplied

Mums love BBQ too, especially when it’s this good. For the mum who wants to chill out with a casual (but generous) feed, Le Bon Ton’s Mother’s Day smoked BBQ platter loads up the finest tender smoked brisket, smoked chicken, southern slaw, potato salad, house pickles and BBQ sauce for just $39pp. Plus, then she can tack on the Big Easy Bottomless upgrade, with 90 minutes of cocktail carafes like Mai Mimosa and Hugo Spritz, or a $69 non alc option. Bring the family and party with mama the Southern way.

Whitebark Wine

313 Victoria St, West Melbourne

One for the wine-lovers. Whitebark Wine is serving up a $60 special set on Sunday, a genteel banquet of small plates with local produce, like Long Paddock fresh cheese curd with house flatbread, fish cake balls with sweet ginger sauce and Tumpinyeri growers red kale with confit garlic and green chilli. She's probably never had a wallaby steak before: this'll be served porterhouse-style with fried egg sauce and torched spring onion, and it's her last chance to enjoy 'Skippy & Chippies' kangaroo tartare with smoked macadamia cream before they switch up the menu. Mums get a free blackberry-and-bay spritz, but if she knows her vino she'll also want to dive into the wine list of Australian and New Zealand boutique and indie producers - or just pick something from the wall.

Reed House

130 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne

Celebrate mum with the cosy Brit-pub comfort of a Sunday roast at Reed House. For a very reasonable $35pp, settle in for a plate of two to three meats or a vegetarian main option, with seasonal veg, their famous golden, puffy Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy. They're also planning to whip up something extra fun for mum's dessert, as well as a cocktail special.

Tipo 00

361 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne

Image: Tipo 00 | Supplied

Tipo 00’s $125pp long lunch is one mum will remember all year. First, fluffy housemade focaccia with ricotta and basil oil, scallops with lardo and saffron, tuna crudo with blood orange. Pasta is of course the star of the show, with crab linguine, cherry tomatoes and sorrel alongside duck gnocchi with pecorino pepato. And it wouldn't be a proper Tipo experience without the signature Tipomisu, a deconstructed take on the Italian classic, alongside honey panna cotta with quince and hazelnut. Add on the $95pp wine pairing and mum'll be well looked-after.

Bistrot Bisou

575 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

Image: Bistrot Bisou | Supplied

It's French for the whole family at Bistrot Bisou. As well as a $75pp sharing feast, kids under 12 dine free from a special kids menu. Snack on olives and delightful beef Bolognese fritters, then choose your main: braised lamb shank, Wagyu roast beef or monkfish. Let mum pick the dessert, either the decadent comfort of a sticky date pudding or a delicate ginger poached pear. On top of all that, they're giving mum a bottle of wine and Urku chocolate to take home.

Tèta Mona

100A Lygon Street, Brunswick East

Enjoy a Mother’s Day banquet for a cause. Lygon’s Lebanese fave Tèta Mona (named for the grandmother of the owners) will be donating a portion of proceeds towards humanitarian efforts in Lebanon. Their banquets start from $55pp, a choose-your-own adventure of little mezza, medium dishes, mains and dessert—with gluten free and vegan diners well catered for. It's Lebanese comfort food, from house dips and mixed pickles to Samboosek bi Jebne, crisp pastry envelopes of mixed cheese, to the fragrant Rez wa Djaj seven-spiced pulled chicken wild rice with buttered almonds and vegan baklava or the “Coco prince” chocolate and honey biscuits slice to finish.

Poodle Bar And Bistro

81–83 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy

Image: Poodle | Instagram

Not just a set menu for mum, but one for kids too. Poodle invites you to celebrate mum with grand Euro bistro flair. And at $100pp for adults and $50pp kids, the whole family can enjoy the signature Poodle punchy flavours and decadence in a share-style meal. Think: panisse with onion jam, anchovy and olive tapenade, deviled Moreton Bay bug brioche rolls, grilled lamb loin with pepperberry and Bordelaise sauce and ricotta, fig and lemon curd mille-feuille.

Gemini

158 Sydney Road, Coburg

One for the mums who appreciate a good glass of vino. Coburg’s cutest wine bar, Gemini, will be running a Sunday lunch set menu for Mother’s Day. A cool $85 gets mum four delicious courses of local-focused, Euro-style cuisine, but it’s worth going for the $155 per head option with both the set menu and special wine pairings, to tap into Gemini’s seriously heavy-hitting boutique wine list.

Hopper Joint

157 Greville Street, Prahran

Image: Hopper Joint | Instagram

Mum's a fan of spice? Book in for Amma’s Feast at Hopper Joint, a $89.90 set menu of Sri Lankan flavour. Start with small bites like spiced prawn toast with fermented lime lunudehi mayo, roasted jackfruit and potato fritter with mint yoghurt and Hot Buttered Cuttlefish with red chilli pepper sauce, then move to a hopper set, of course, with one egg hopper and unlimited plain. Rip, scoop and enjoy your choice of curry along with white dahl, condiments and pol sambol. Buffalo curd doughnut with passion curd, dark choc ganache and milk toffee ice cream.

Stokehouse

30 Jacka Boulevard, St Kilda

Image: Stokehouse | Supplied

Take mum to the seaside. St Kilda’s Stokehouse has a double offering for Mother's Day. Upstairs, a refined banquet at $195pp. Start with suitably sea-focused snacks of tuna belly with melon and Murray cod empanadas and a seafood course of coral trout or hand-picked mud crab before the tender Wagyu sirloin and optional lobster upgrade (for mum? Anything) and a rhubarb white chocolate dessert. Downstairs, Stokehouse Pasta & Bar keeps it casual with a share-style set at $100pp: snacks, a spicy rigatoni with mussels and sobrasada (with focaccia for mopping up, of course), then smoked lamb shoulder and flaked barramundi and a sweet finish.

Nobu

Crown Riverwalk, Southbank

If mum loves Japanese, give her something utterly unique with Nobu’s $149 kaiseki experience, blending Japanese and Peruvian influences. The Oke Platter will be composed of sixteen exquisitely prepared dishes showcasing the signature skill that’s earned Nobu international renown. Determined by seasons and the creativity of the chef, prepare mum to be surprised and delighted by every bite. You'll have a choice of crispy shiitake goma salad or field greens in Matsuhisa dressing, then select your main, between black cod den miso, anticucho Peruvian‑style ribeye, served with broccolini. The grand finale, the famous Nobu cheesecake. Pair with Champagne, sake or a seasonal cocktail, and it's a Mother's Day to remember.

Luxsmith

5 Gamon Street, Seddon

Image: Luxsmith | Supplied

At Luxsmith, Seddon’s favourite Mod Asian spot, everyone’s welcome to share a feast with mum. For $85pp for adults and $45pp for kids, you’ll explore fusion flavours as a family with wok-charred edamame, kingfish sashimi with spicy nahm jim, and beef tataki with ponzu. Twice-cooked crispy fried duck in sweet ginger soy, and coconut turmeric barramundi in banana leaves are the centrepiece, then it's double dessert with pandan cheesecake and their unique twist on the tiramisu, with espresso, sake and yuzu.
