By now, we’re all well acquainted with the fact that Squid Game knows how to deliver a gasp-worthy, heart-pounding, dramatic AF cliffhanger—season 2, we’re looking at you.
After using up all of our patience waiting for season 2 to drop (3 years and 3 months—but who's counting?), the good news is that the next instalment is merely weeks away. The third and final season of everyone’s favourite Korean survival-thriller lands on Netflix on 27 June this year.
So to celebrate the much anticipated final round, Netflix is bringing Squid Game to life with a spine-tingling activation at Federation Square this month, and we know for a fact that Netflix don’t do things by halves. After a 12-week sellout of their Squid Game Live experience at Luna Park Sydney, Melbourne is about to get in on the action. Aligning with the annual Korea Festival on 24 and 25 May, prepare to be transported to the dystopian world of Squid Game.
Expect to see our girl Young-hee back in all of her 4.5m, fully operational glory, towering over you as you compete in an intense game of Red Light, Green Light, and expect to rub shoulders with a couple of Pink Guards while you’re at it.
Of course, no activation is complete without the chance to plaster it all over your socials, so there will be photo ops aplenty across the weekend. Legendary Squid Game set pieces will transform Federation Square—think the labyrinth stairs, the VIP room, pink bowed coffins and more.
This is your chance to fully immerse yourself in the twisted world of Squid Game, without having to genuinely fear for your life—and that, friends, is what we like to call a win-win situation. Speaking of win-win situations, once you’re done pressure testing yourself and your mates, why not take the edge off by wandering the rest of the Korea Festival and indulging in epic eats, or one of many live performances on offer. If you stick around until 6.30pm on Sunday night, there’s even an epic K-Pop showdown.
Season 3 of Squid Game tells us to prepare for more action, more betrayal and more devastating choices with grave outcomes. Prepare for the final game—27 June on Netflix.
