Dominique Crenn is one of the world's most influential chefs. The co-owner and chef of San Francisco's Atelier Crenn, Crenn was the first female chef in the US to ever receive three Michelin stars. She also owns Bar Crenn serving signature cocktails and refined bar snacks, and in 2025, she partnered with House of Dior to open both a Café Dior and Monsieur Dior.

Now, in partnership with Australian alternative investment managers Salter Brothers, Crenn is opening her first-ever Australian venue in Melbourne. An all-day dining concept inspired by the comptoirs of Paris, Petit Crenn will open on Collins Street this October.

"Petit Crenn comes from my own life, from the cafes in France where you can sit for five minutes or five hours and always feel welcome," Crenn says.

"I've wanted to bring that feeling to Australia for a long time, and Melbourne, with its curiosity and its love of good food, felt like exactly the right place to do it. I can't wait to open the doors and share this with the city."

Guided by simplicity and seasonality, the Petit Crenn menu will move from coffee and pastries in the morning to long lunches and cocktails in the evening. Expect signatures like croque madame, caviar, steak tartare with egg yolk jam, and seasonal tartines.

The 40-seat venue, designed by Crenn herself, will draw on the landscapes and coastline of her home region of Brittany with natural materials and texture. It will also house a five-person standing table that places guests in the middle of the action, with an intimate view of the kitchen.

Petit Crenn is set to open this October at 495 Collins Street, Melbourne.
