“Netflix For Bikes” Ride Kola Is The eBike Subscription That You Can Stash At Home

By Simon Cassar

Zooming in on an electric-powered wave, the new Ride Kola is Melbourne's newest eBike phenomenon.

Providing an alternative to a short-lived scooter ride or a rather costly purchase of your own set of wheels, the service aims to equip Melburnians with an affordable and planet-friendly mode of transport via monthly subscription payment.

Utilising a 'Circular economy approach' each Ride Kola bike has been comprised of refurbished parts from disused and bicycles.

Led by Chris Arnott one of Australia's foremost environmental advisors with over 25 years in the space, Ride Kola is the result of his passion for both environmental factors and accessibility to transport.

The subscription service will allow punters to get behind the bars of the bikes as well as keep them at home in lieu of the traditional stashing them on the sidewalk or dock stations.

"It's effectively Netflix for Bikes" Chris explains

The subscription will cost you $59 per week and that includes the bicycle, charging equipment, Bluetooth lock as well as bike insurance and 24/7 rider rescue (roadside assist).

The bike can be fully charged at home with a regular household socket and from flat, the battery takes up to 5 hours to fully charge. The electric motor can clock up speeds of 25kmph, but you're able to increase this via the physical use of the pedals.

Ride Kola eBikes are currently waitlist only at this point but head over here to get involved and tee up a test ride.
