Blue Shakes And Secret Sauces: Shake Shack’s First Serve Down Under At The Australian Open
The highly anticipated Grand Slam season is back, with the Australian Open swinging into Melbourne from Monday 12 January until Sunday 1 February 2026.
This year, there’s a new player on the court—a heavy hitter from the States that’s here to win over Aussies’ hearts.
It’s official: American burger empire Shake Shack has landed down under for the first time. Debuting at the Happy Slam, fans can now try its sauced-up stacks, signature crinkle-cut fries, and limited-edition shakes right here in Melbourne.

From humble beginnings as a New York hot dog stand in Madison Square Park, Shake Shack now has twenty-plus years of pumping out burgers and hundreds of global outlets.
“The AO is such an incredible event to be part of. Like the energy. The vibe. The people coming in, really enjoying the atmosphere. This is the best way for us to introduce Shake Shack to people for the very first time," spokesman Aleric Sng tells Urban List.
It took very little convincing to seal the deal.
“We’ve been wanting to pop up in Australia for a very, very long time. Meeting up with the Tennis Australia team. Understanding what it means to be part of such an incredible event. We’re just incredibly honoured to be part of the Australian Open.”
Shake Shack’s first Australian pop-up sits alongside the huge entertainment hub at the AO’s TOPCOURT.

There are plenty of bites to taste-test between matches, all containing the most premium ingredients.
“We cook our burgers with a lot of love. We have 100% Angus Beef patties, Roma tomatoes, lettuce and our signature Shack sauce—which is a secret recipe—all enclosed in a toasted potato bun,” says Aleric.
“We come from a fine dining background but have all this knowledge of how to cook burgers. We are obsessed with burgers, and it shows.”
The sign at the AO burger stand reads: Our custom 100% Aussie Angus beef blend by Few & Far—no hormones or antibiotics ever, humanely raised and grazed in Australia.

The classic crinkle-cut chips are, of course, on the cards too—with and without that glossy cheese sauce—a huge win for Aussie Shake Shack fans who’ve been dying to try them on home soil.
There’s also a 'Shroom Burger number on the lineup for non-meat eaters and the Shack Stack: a monster-sized double whammy with both a beef AND mushroom patty, plus all the trimmings.
Feeling thirsty? In addition to a quenching, house-made lemonade, bespoke shakes are in town.

Honouring tennis and the AO in general is the exclusive Blue Slam: a bright blue shake made with Shake Shack's signature vanilla custard, spirulina, manuka honey and macadamia nuts.
“It’s gorgeous, blue and an homage to this incredible tournament," says Aleric.
A limited-edition Chocolate Cookies & Cream Shake is also on the AO menu, made with blended vanilla frozen custard, Shack fudge sauce and chocolate cookies, topped with cookie crumbles.
Head on down to the AO to try Shake Shack in Australia for the first time, available until 1 Feb.
