Boasting over 40 ultra-exclusive membership clubs across the globe, it's finally Melbourne's turn for our very own Soho House.

Founded in 1995 as a hangout for London’s creatives, the original elite club in Soho quickly became the blueprint for members-only spaces designed for dining, drinking, lounging, working and working out, with a signature no-phone policy.

Since then, stylish outposts have sprung up in New York, Berlin, Barcelona and beyond, each tailored to its location with distinct architecture and unique offerings, from spa treatments to infinity pools and movie screening rooms.

This isn't the first time the creative members' club has had its sights set on Melbourne, plans for a South Yarra location fell through in 2022 following strong opposition from the council and a local residents' group. Now years later, it looks like it might finally be Melbourne's turn again.

Here’s everything we know so far about Soho House’s arrival in Melbourne.

Is Soho House Coming To Melbourne?

Soho House has confirmed preparation to open a Melbourne location is in motion, however details on an opening date are next to non-existent, with "beyond 2027" being the only indication of a timeline.

Details on location are also yet to be revealed, although according to Forbes, Soho House's Global Group Director of Membership, Esther Brown, confirmed they are actively hunting for their Melbourne site.

Soho House has also confirmed a Sydney location is well on its way, having already broken ground on a Darlinghurst location.

How To Score A Soho House Membership

You don’t have to be an award-winning celeb or seasoned influencer to sign up to Soho House. Regular folk like us can apply for a Soho House membership, so long as you're cool, creative and cashed-up—recommendations from existing members are also a big bonus.

There are a few kinds of memberships: a Local House membership providing access to your city’s House, an Every House membership unlocking access to all the Soho Houses internationally, and a Cities Without Houses membership, which entitles you to all the Soho House happenings without belonging to a physical club.

Running since 2016 in over 80 countries, the Cities Without Houses membership has already been taken advantage of by Sydneysiders on the down low. This secret-ish club has been serving a roster of slick events, including pop-up dinners with esteemed chefs, fashion-focused soirees and poolside parties featuring legendary DJ duo Flight Facilities.

So, while you’re waiting for Soho House to open in Melbs, have a peek at the membership options and keep up to date with the latest info on the launch online.
