The Commons Bar has just launched a new menu and after-work specials at its Collins Street and Martin Place locations, bringing modern bar snacks, seasonal wines and cocktails to the after-work drinks rotation. While The Commons might be best known for its coworking spaces, you don’t need to work there to pull up a seat—both bars are open to the public.

Designed with Melbourne-based studio DesignOffice, the spaces set out to seamlessly accompany the workday flow, kicking off the morning with coffee and brunch before transforming into a slick CBD bar after hours. Chef Frank Berardi’s new menu centres on familiar flavours and easy-to-share plates, alongside a drinks list spanning local wines, classic cocktails and signature creations.

The new bar menu has your after-work snacking needs sorted. Think mortadella skewers with guindilla and hot honey, whipped Meridith Dairy goat cheese with spiced pepitas and herb oil, and loaded Chappys chips, stacked with jamon, gruyere and guindillas.

Even better? Head in on Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm to 6pm for Aperitif Hour, when Tommy’s margaritas, Southsides and Hugo spritzes are just $10, and classic or dirty martinis are $11. There’s also $8 wine, including chardonnay, pinot noir and prosecco, plus The Commons’ Knock-Offs Lager made in collaboration with Stomping Ground.

The Commons loaded charcuterie

If you’re settling in for a cocktail, the A Side of Fries offer adds unlimited fries to any classic or signature order from 4pm until close on those same days. Choose from seasonings and house-made sauces including toasted nori and sesame, truffle aioli and pineapple barbecue.

You’ll find The Commons Bar at 55 Collins Street, Melbourne, and 39 Martin Place, Sydney, open Thursdays and Fridays from midday until late. Browse the menus and book a table here.
