The sides menu mainstay is about to get the superstar treatment at UGO Burrata Bar, propping up the dish—which has had a lot of attention in the media of late—to centre stage at South Melbourne Market.
Ranging from 60g to a hefty 125g serve of the stuff, UGO works exclusively with That’s Amore Cheese, serving up the cheesery’s cow’s milk cheese-encased delights with a full gamut of seasonal ingredients.
Highlights include, but certainly aren’t limited to, a burrata bagel loaded with heirloom tomato, bippy chilli and Italian dressing; burrata served with mortadella, watermelon and pickle rind; a porchetta focaccia complemented with Giardiniera, and of course burrata; along with one for the sweet tooth’s out there— A Baba Crumble primed up with rum syrup, shaved macadamia and 60g Burrata to top it all off.
For co-owner, Dario Di Clerico, UGO Burrata Bar is all about championing the mozzarella, stracciatella and cream-filled dish alongside seasonal ingredients.
“There has been some debate around the perception by some that burrata is just a boring blob but we are challenging this with the amazing dishes we are serving up with burrata as the hero!
“We want to showcase that burrata and mozzarella are not only seasonal products, but delicious
ingredients that can be paired up all year round,” said Dario.
At any one time, punters can expect at least ten dishes on the menu, with the option to double up your burrata with an extra serve available at all times.
UGO Burrata is open Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at South Melbourne Market.
