If you’re looking to plan your next vacay—we’ve got just the place for you. With endless beaches, sunsets that'll give you goosebumps, and luxury digs like Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa to unwind at, Broome is calling your name.
Fortunately, this tropical paradise is now just a four-and-a-half hour flight away, with Qantas jetting wanderlust-seekers directly to Broome every Sunday. Want to book an escape when the temps drop in Melbourne, but the weather stays balmy in Broome? April public holidays, we’re looking at you. And even better, direct flights will start departing twice a week from May.
Our Commercial Director just jetted off on a holiday to Broome, so we picked Leilani's brain on everything to eat, drink, and do—you can start planning your own agenda. Read on for her top tips.
“You can't say you've seen a sunset until you've seen one in Broome. Hot tip: the best colours and best lighting happens just as the sun dips behind the ocean.”
A place where sunsets are synonymous with the postcard-perfect town, golden hour doesn’t get much better than at Cable Beach. Think: a dazzling show of pink, orange and purple streaking the sky as the sun dips below the Indian Ocean. Just a 10-minute drive from the centre of Broome, there’s 23 kilometres of powder-white sand, fringed by a glass-like ocean to explore. For a truly bucket list-worthy experience, discover the sun-drenched seaside enclave on one of the beach’s iconic camel rides, or get your calf burn on with a hike through nearby Yawuru Minyirr Park.
High season runs from April to September, but if you ask us, a visit to Cable Beach is always a good idea—no matter what month.
“The studios are pretty spacious and lush, particularly with the L'occitane products in every room. Plus, the Bungalows are perfect for families and group getaways with a self-contained kitchen for meals.”
Perched on the edge of the sand, Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa is like waking up in paradise. Inspired by Broome’s beautiful surroundings with a fusion of colonial charm—and a touch of Asian influence—the resort oozes relaxed elegance.
From beautifully furnished studios and lush bungalows set among tropical gardens, to two-bedroom apartments complete with ensuite bathrooms, living space, kitchenette and private balcony, there’s a set-up to suit every traveller.
Plus, with access to both a family and adults-only pool on-site, there are endless opportunities to cannonball with the kids or soak your stresses away pina colada in hand.
Large groups will want to check into one of the resort's art-covered suites. Sleeping up to six guests across several king rooms and boasting sprawling lounge areas and a full kitchen, these suites are decked out with stunning antiques and pieces from Australia’s most distinguished artists like Sir Sidney Nolan and Elizabeth Dureck.
Or for something extra special, the resort’s coveted villas will score you a dedicated host, daily brekky, fruit bowl and gin platter on arrival, plus a private courtyard and plunge pool.
And, if you’re heading here for work and pleasure, you can even hold a conference at the resort. With space for 10 to 280 people, think beachfront bonding and sunset soirees to round out the working day.
“If you visit the Italian restaurant on-site, Cichetti Club, make sure you order the tortellini—delicious pockets of pasta filled with juicy prawn meat and served in a light and fragrant lemon, fennel and dill sauce. Say less.”
You’ll want to arrive hungry at Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa because their food and drink offerings are elite. For a drool-worthy Thai-inspired dinner, book a table at Kichi Kichi. Dine poolside and devour sticky lamb ribs with green peppercorn caramel and duck red curry. Wash it down with a refreshing lychee martini.
Craving a taste of Italy? Make tracks directly to Cichetti where you’ll indulge in a three-course feast by candlelight. Think melt-in-your-mouth prawn tortellini drenched in lemon butter, pork cotoletta and tiramisu just like Nonna would make. Pair each course with a vino from their thoughtfully curated wine list and thank us later.
Broome's iconic sunsets await at Sunset Grill. Boasting sweeping views of Cable Beach, there’s no better spot to snag a seat just before dusk, and the menu here is just as good as the vista. Tuck into the surf and turf—slow braised Margaret River beef short rib and grilled Shark Bay tiger prawns with chorizo, white wine and crostini. Sip from the extensive list of WA wines, throw back a cold beer or work your way through the cocktail menu. Pro tip: the Pash Inn (passionfruit, lime, vanilla, vodka and prosecco) is a must.
And don’t sleep on Sunset Grill’s brekky offering either. Pancakes, fresh OJ and a side of sparkling Indian Ocean views? It's the only way to start your day.
“There's something for every type of traveller. While the kids are busy exploring the on-site activities, Chahoya Spa is ready for those seeking a bit of relaxation.”
Is it even a holiday if you don’t pay a visit to the spa? Retreat to the Chahoya Spa by L'Occitane for a soul-nourishing treatment. With seven private suites (including a double vichy shower room), and inspired by healing philosophies from around the world, this is THE place to zen out.
The treatment menu consists of body wraps and scrubs, facial therapy, manis and pedis, and deeply relaxing massages. If you really want to treat yo’self, opt for one of their signature treatments, like the Chahoya Experience which includes a Kakadu Plum scrub and wrap, full body massage, custom facial and lunch.
If you’re seeking a moment of pure peace, stroll through the Buddha Sanctuary ornamental garden. The perfect place to meditate or simply let your shoulders drop, here you can marvel at the 3.5 metre, seven-tonne hand-carved crystal Buddha.
“Flying into Broome, and seeing the stunning landscape from the air will take your breath away—the aqua of the ocean against the red of the land. Exploring the breathtaking landscape is a must for between dips in the pool and spa.”
Awash with breathtaking natural beauty, be sure to carve out some time to explore the Broome and Kimberley region. Some of our faves include Roebuck Bay with its iconic pink beach, rose-hued cliffs and sparkling turquoise water.
A bit of a local’s secret, Coconut Well is 25km from Broome and accessible by 4WD. Here you'll find a cluster of bathtub-sized limestone rock pools acting as mini aquariums.
Dubbed by David Attenborough as one of the greatest wonders of the natural world, you’d be remiss not to check out Horizontal Falls when you’re in this beautiful pocket of WA. This natural phenomenon (created by huge tidal movements forced between two narrow gorges), is best appreciated from above with a seaplane tour.
Finally, stretch your legs with a walk to Gantheaume Point. Just an hour's stroll along the sand from the resort, you’ll find the 130 million-year-old footprints of dinosaurs, perfectly preserved in a reef rock. The footprints are only visible at low tide so plan your visit accordingly.
