Usually, at this time of year we're searching for what's open so we can wander down for a coffee on our extended weekend, this year it all looks a little different.
It's going to be a weird long weekend given it doesn't really feel like any other day of the week, and it might drag on a bit.
Thankfully, many Melbourne restaurants, cafes, and bars are still out there doing their bit for us to keep well watered and fed.
Here are the best dishes to order delivered or takeaway this Easter long weekend in Melbourne.
Supernormal | New England Lobster Roll
Often imitated, never matched. We all knew this one would top the list. Andrew McConnell’s lobster roll has been a mainstay of the Supernormal menu for a minute now, and as a skerrick of silver lining to this pandemic we’re wading through, you can get this one sent straight to your home.
You could have a crack at your own version, but in this case, we feel you should leave it to the professionals—get it on Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Capitano | Grandma Pie
We’re not playing favourites here, but you can’t mention the rigatoncini without getting in on the Grandma Pie. This rectangular, deep-dish number doesn’t mess around with superfluous toppings, instead, you’ll find tomato, mozzarella, pecorino, stracciatella and a leaf or two of basil working together to create one of the most iconic pizzas found in Carlton.
Add it to the cart along with their rigatoncini here.
Mr Miyagi | Miyagi Fried Chicken
Chapel Street veteran, Mr Miyagi, has experienced the many peaks and troughs of the southside dining precinct over the years, so you can guarantee a lockdown ain’t going to stop them serving their modern take on Japanese cuisine. The entire menu is worthy of a feature here, but you can’t go past their Miyagi Fried Chicken, or more commonly known as MFC. Plenty of signature MFC seasoning, plenty of kewpie mayo; it’s all you need.
And it’s available via Uber Eats right now.
Bar Americano | Cocktails
Bar Americano is keeping you well-hydrated this long weekend with their excellent range of cocktails available for takeaway and delivery.
You can buy everything from 200ml bottles to 500ml sizes of Negroni, Americano.
Check out the range here.
Kevabs | Vegan Kebabs
Open Good Friday and Easter Saturday, Kevabs are dishing up cook-at-home packs of their vegan kebabs.
The kevabs contain no soy, dairy, eggs, gluten, nuts, or sugar. So they're good to go for anyone troubled with allergies as well.
Give them a call to place your order, they're available pick-up or take away.
Elyros | Moussaka
Nothing fills your stomach quite like a moussaka. And ordering a Elyros moussaka is the perfect way to celebrate a long weekend stuck at home.
You can order in options of Mini (1 person), Small (2), or Large (4). Each the perfect balance of beef, eggplant, potato, and, of course, bechamel.
Order yours here.
Good Times Milk Bar | Tacos
At night time, Good Times Milk Bar side window turns into Tropico Taqueria serving up snacks, tacos, quesadillas, and much more.
They're available for pick-up or takeaway, and you can even grab yourself some booze.
Order yours here.
Cobb Lane | Dougnuts
The maker of Melbourne's best doughnuts, Cobb Lane, has set up a pop-up bakery in their home of Yarraville where you can order bread, pastries, cakes, biscuits, and more.
Pick yourself up a 6-pack of doughnuts (or more), and throw in some hot cross buns on the side to make the most of Easter.
Order your essentials here.
