THE VERDICT
Moorabbin-based brewery, 2 Brothers, has been brewing and bottling some of the best beer in Melbourne for yonks now. And as good things would have it, the kitchen just got a serious upgrade.
The Bang Bang crew have stepped into the fold, taking over the pass at the Taproom Nextdoor to reinvigorate the dining experience. It’s the hawker-style dishes inspired by Asia’s street food that you know and love on plates you’re yet to have tried at Bang Bang’s Hampton and Mordialloc outposts.
The menu hits tables Thursday 8 August, with dishes that pair all too perfectly with a pint of the good stuff. Think spicy chicken wings coated in sticky BBQ sauce, tempura potato scallops with Bang Bang’s homemade kewpie mayo, and large sharing boards for hungry punters.
If you’ve managed to escape the office on a Thursday or Friday for lunch, do the smart thing and get the katsu roll and beer spesh. It’s a crusty baguette loaded with katsu chicken, creamy slaw, house-made kewpie mayo, and tonkatsu sauce, that you can wash down with a pint. And it’ll only put you out by $25.
