The Verdict

Just when you thought burger joints might be past their prime, along comes 300 Grams, Northcote’s newest burger oasis for vegans, vegetarians and meat-lovers alike.

Nestled on High Street, the eatery aims to satisfy northside locals and burger-lovers who frequent the lively strip of road, and who are searching for that perfect late-night (or mid-day) craving. “We want that moment when they’re eating our burger to be the best five minutes of their day,'' says founder Joe Farah.

With over half a dozen burgers to choose from, there’s something for everyone from beef and chicken to plant-based patties and southern fried mushroom. Try the signature 300 Gs complete with their special “300 sauce”, or try out the Norfcote, which adds egg, bacon and beetroot to the equation.

All of the buns are vegan, and most of the burgers can be as well with plant-based substitutions. Coeliacs aren’t left out either with gluten-free options available, and for dessert, you can try a sweet sundae, which also happens to be made from coconut-water based soft serve, and therefore completely vegan-friendly.

There are sweet potato fries for the “health-conscious”, and although you probably wouldn't want to hit them up on a diet, 300 Grams should be the go-to burger joint next time you’re northside.
