The Verdict

Nestled on the intersection of Williams and Malvern road, Toorak’s favourite wine bar has morphed into its favourite craft beer mecca. 505 Cellars (formerly 505 Wine Room) is split into two distinct, modern spaces designed by Australian interior designer Ricky Smith. It's the beer temple Toorak desperately deserves.

There's a bar menu with some perfect beer-side snacks. Think $4 oysters (Kilpatrick too if you're a fan) cider-glazed chorizo on crusty sourdough and pull-apart lamb ribs in sticky BBQ sauce. The chicken burger also deserves a mention: a grilled breast with fried bacon, cheese, lettuce, avo and caramelized onion, topped off with a zingy romesco mayo. The makings of an excellent Sunday sesh...

As you'd expect of the old 505 Wine Room, there's still a great selection of bottles available (the 2015 Glaetzer-Dixon Uberblanc Riesling is a particular fav). Wines are typically sold by the glass, but if you think you’ve found your perfect Shiraz partner, the 505 Cellar team will happily offer you a bottle.
