Calling all health buffs and fans of all things weird and wonderful: Melbourne’s very first whole-body cryotherapy centre—Alchemy Cryo—have just opened their doors!

The brand new South Yarra space is the only one of its kind in Australia. Alchemy Cryo is 100% dedicated to cryotherapy, a treatment which is currently used by everyone from Lindsay Lohan to LeBron James.

Never heard of cryotherapy? The game-changing wellness treatment involves immersing yourself in an ultra-cold room for a maximum of three minutes. Once inside, your whole body is exposed to electrically cooled air below -110 ̊c, giving you a buzz like no other while kick-starting several of the body’s vital systems. Below-freezing temperatures have incredible effects when it comes to improving the quality of your sleep, boosting the body's collagen production, helping with muscle pain and recovery, and giving you that natural endorphin high.

While it’s freezing inside the walk-in cryo room, the Alchemy Cryo experts recommend exposing as much skin as possible to the icy air. When you arrive, you will be given a special cryo kit, including a robe, mask, gloves, earmuffs, socks and slippers, but once inside, you’ll want to strip down to your bathers or minimal gym wear for those precious few minutes.

Feeling nervous? The friendly Alchemy team will attentively monitor you once you enter the cryo room. They’ll even play your favourite song to dance along to during your wellness-packed 3-minute session, plus the cryo room can fit up to four people so your friends can book a session at the same time!

Afterwards, Alchemy clients are invited to warm up in a specially designed area with exercise equipment.
