The Verdict

Once upon a time, Arc’teryx was exclusively reserved for the weekend warriors and outdoors type as a top-end brand that would help one attack the elements. In more recent times, however, the brand has been adopted by the global streetwear community thanks to the versatility of the garms and Veilance, their fashion-forward sibling label—and now, you can find both under one roof at their new flagship Chadstone locale.

The new store comes as the second location in the country, as well as the largest. Fans of the brands can explore the range to its fullest with the most comprehensive selection of Arc’teryx and Veilance within one space—all 166 square metres of it.

Tapping in at the crossroads of function and aesthetic, the two labels believe that now more than ever that exploring both the outdoors, and our self-expression, has never been more important after the year that was.

"There continues to be great demand for gear designed for the outdoors. If anything, and especially for those of us who have spent time in Melbourne, Covid-19 has highlighted how important spending time in nature is for creating positive mental health, which is an important part of Arc’teryx.” said Dan Wojo, Australian and New Zealand Commercial Manager.

“This belief is becoming a core value of our ‘why’. It links straight into what will be our core message over the next few years, we call this ‘Outer Peace’.”

The two labels call on their progressive material innovation and leading-edge garment engineering to strike the balance, which has been executed with such grace it's being repped by the likes of Travis Scott, Drake, and Virgil Abloh to name a few.

To celebrate the store opening, Arc’teryx and Veilance have employed renowned muralist—and Urban List favourite—George Rose for a large-scale piece referencing the locale and its surrounds.

SWOP

Melbourne is no stranger to fashionable punters—after all, the city is dubbed the fashion capital for a reason. You wouldn’t be the first to be in awe of someone’s fit as they walk down Swanston Street, and you certainly wouldn’t be the last. Wondering where everyone is going? It could very well be SWOP.
