Babajan Pop-Up
The Verdict
Residents of Brunswick East have a new neighbour and they’re here to spice things up. Bringing their Turkish and Middle Eastern goodies from Carlton North, Babajan has opened up a second location on Lygon Street with a no-frills, no-fuss pop-up.
They have all the cult classics to take away, like house-made borek, halloumi pies, pides and salads, plus daily dips and Turkish bread. For a snack, try local favourite simit, a sesame-seed crusted bagel fresh from the oven.
You can also grab a batch brew coffee from Proud Mary, or stop for a leisurely Turkish coffee while you decide which sweet treat to take home.
With a nod from the New York Times (and locals) for their amazing approach to Turkish classics, this is the ideal place to pick up dinner or grab lunch in a hurry. This is a classic case of ‘here for a good time, not a long time’, so skip the gym and run to Babajan instead.
