The Verdict

If you’ve ever driven down Glen Eira Road in Elsternwick first thing on a Friday morning, you’ve probably noticed a line outside of #260 and wondered what the hell was going on.

I myself have joined this line. Every Friday Baker Bleu sells their amazing challah, and families from all around the area line up first thing to make sure they don’t miss out.

The tiny bakery has made a name for itself in supplying bread to restaurants such as Attica, and Cutler & Co., and has recently opened a much larger bakery to give them a bit more room to move.

The new 400-square-metre bakery sits around the corner on Hawthorn Road in Caulfield North, and is selling the same loaves, bagels, rolls, focaccia, and, of course, challah that has been available at their Elsternwick bakery for the past two years.

The new bakery features state of the art equipment sourced from countries like Germany and France, to make sure Baker Bleu’s product continues to be at its best.

In future, there are plans to offer sourdough croissants, and further items on top of the delicious jam, and filter coffee already served in-store.
