The Verdict

Docklands, you’ve been gifted a new café, and we have to say it’s a pretty damn good one—Barlog is serving up all the treats you need for a good breakfast, and the unique vibe here is what will leave you coming back for more.

Already the owner of Fledgling Espresso, Connor Cunliffe knew that taking on a second café within two years would be a big job, but that’s what adds to the excitement of it all. Opening in the competitive Docklands was a big step too. “I thought 'challenge accepted,' let’s do it,” Cunliffe says.

Changing things up from a lot of other new Melbourne cafés, Barlog has gone for bold, bright colours to differentiate itself from the muted pastel crowd. (Seriously, all this faded mint green business has got to go. Thanks, Barlog.)

Cute decor aside, let's talk food: a delicious menu awaits you at Barlog. You have your classic brunch offerings, from smashed avo to corn and zucchini fritters to roast pumpkin salads. However, Barlog is also quickly becoming well-known for its sweet treats. If you’ve got a sweets craving look no further than their lemon curd pancakes or their sticky date french toast. We're already drooling.

We’re sure you’ve already gotten hooked just by their food, but if you needed any more convincing, let the drinks help you out. They’ve got an extensive list of drinks on offer, from coffees to tea to soft drinks. But make sure to check out their milkshakes (some topped with fairy floss), smoothies and juices. If you’re looking for a bit more of a kick, they also have alcoholic drinks on offer, including cocktails, wines by the glass and beer.

Barlog is great for groups and perfect event space. On the weekends, they even offer a meal matched with bottomless alcoholic drinks/coffee for just $50. See you there.
