The Verdict

This spanking new all day eatery has just arrived in Collingwood, and it’s the latest project from the team who brought you Wide Open Road and Heartattack and Vine. This refined southern American hot-spot is part returaurant, part bar, and part party, so it definitely guarantees a good time.

Bedford Street is retracing the steps of old Collingwood: This diner-style venue has a little bit of grit to it, and a whole lot of heart. They’ll be serving up brekky, lunch and dinner.

For breakfast, you can nab thick-cut braised and roasted pork belly bacon with roast sauerkraut and fried eggs, or even a crab omelette with herb cream! You can clearly see the diner influences, but they’ve been refined with a truly Melbourne twist. Lunch will mean the chef’s famous fried hot chicken sandwich, as well as a taco salad and spicy fish burritos. Does it get much better than that?

Dinner is where Bedford Street truly shines. There’s grilled cheese with truffle, duck liver cannoli, and ox tongue stroganoff with pastry—and that’s just the hor d’oeuvers! For mains, you can score yourself a pork chop schnitty, or a Persian baked lamb shoulder. There’s also a specially made goulash for our vegan pals.

Don’t worry, they haven’t forgotten about drinks. With 3 beers on tap, a local wine list, martinis and manhattans – we’re sure you’ll find something to satisfy you. Stay for dinner and drinks, and come back for a breakfast feed to help cure your hangover. Bedford Street really does have you covered!
