The Verdict
After selling out of chicken on their first day at their original Fitzroy store, it wasn’t long before Belles needed a second home. The CBD store, much like the one on Gertrude Street, has a cosy and warm feel, with food just as comforting. Similar to the original Belles' headquarters there are comfy chairs and booths that you sink into and enjoy the famed chicken. However, the Elizabeth Street operation has a slightly darker and almost late-night diner feel to it, fitting in perfectly with the city scene.
The hub is serving up all their iconic dishes like their hot chicken wings, chicken and waffles and Old Bay crinkle-cut fries. Obviously, the menu doesn’t stop there, so if you’re unsure what to pick—give their classic hits menu a go. Pretty much the Belles team will soothe your soul with their absolute favourites and they’ll serve up some booze with it.
Speaking of drinks, Belles isn’t just offering great food. They’ve got a range of boozy slushies, like their ‘Agave Maria’ which is a frozen rose with agave, fresh lime and Belles original season. If it’s too cold for a slushy, they’ve also got a range of cocktails, wines and spirits that you can order over the counter at their bar.
