The Verdict

You may already be familiar with the aesthetic leading BENCH COFFEE CO. or perhaps their equally elegant sister store Saint Dreux. The CBD based cafes are focused on speciality coffee, which they roast themselves off-premises. Just like Saint Dreux, Bench is adorned in the collective’s now-signature colour palette of white, black, and metallics and ‘Guided By Design’ philosophy. 

Entering the carefully curated space of Bench, you could easily be mistaken for one of the designer shops on Collins Street. The impeccably laid out space has a modern minimalist feel, with polished concrete floors, a wrapping bench with glass tiles, and a curved mirror wall that extends to the end of the cafe. With a standing room only space, you can rest your elbows on the bench wall while you patiently wait for your brew. 

Coffee is the focus here, and they’ve got it dialled, from your regular selection of black and white to filtered brews, single origins and seasonal blends. They’ve also got shelves of retail beans available for you to stash at home. Alongside the caffeinated options, there is also the Dacquoise which are exclusive to the Little Collins flagship store, they’re a soft meringue type biscuit made of almond which is then sandwiched between flavoured buttercream including vanilla sea salt, an Uji matcha, black sesame, and Belgian chocolate, a perfect companion to your coffee.
