The Verdict
When Uncle closed up its St Kilda East eatery last year, most knew it wouldn’t take long for the two-storey space—complete with rooftop bar—to be snapped up, refitted and reopened with a new lease on life. Upstairs, you’ll find diner The Land of Plenty, and on the ground floor, Billy T’s cafe.
Steering the ship on the ground floor is barista Jessie-Ann Keys, so you can expect a focus on coffee. Like the menu upstairs, Billy T’s sources locally with Victorian roasters Bean Cartel being used exclusively.
Billy T’s is a Monday to Friday affair and primed for commuters with its takeaway toastie menu. You can’t go wrong with a mac n cheese, but word on the street is the Reuben should not be overlooked—the in-house ironbark-smoked pastrami says it all really.
Drop past Billy T’s during the week between 7am and 3pm.
