The Verdict
Wild looking desserts and Instagram go hand in hand, and that’s why we’re super excited that Black Star Pastry has set up shop in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
No longer do we have to fawn over Instagram posts of lucky Sydney-siders who visit Black Star like it ain’t no thang. Now it’s our turn.
Black Star Pastry are most famous for the Strawberry Watermelon Cake featuring almond dacquoise, rose-scented cream and fresh watermelon that has been macerated in rosewater for hours, all strewn with strawberries, pistachios and dried rose petals—and it takes a whole day to make.
Along with this glorious creation, they offer a range of goods such as lamb shank pies, pistachio lemon zen cake, sublime frangipane tarts and gold medal winning croissants (watch out Lune).
They’ve also hinted that there will be some Melbourne exclusive dishes, and we can’t wait for that.
