The Verdict
From pop-up to permanent, Portsea’s Blakeaway is here to stay. This family owned and run store comes from the team behind Blakes Feast, a boutique catering company serving up pre-prepared bespoke menus with seasonal ingredients. They specialise in events, but now with Blakeaway, you can pick up your very own treats to enjoy, special occasion or not.
Blakeaway was born out of the pandemic and was originally planned as a pop-up, but since opening, the team have decided to stay.
The store has proved popular both with locals and beachgoers from the city with their takeaway meals, patisserie goods, condiments, salads, coffee and picnic hampers. Their meals can be pre-ordered and picked up in store, or they’ll deliver to you.
Blakeaway has called in a heavy hitter to head up the kitchen, too. Former Ezard head chef Dylan Roberts is on meal prep—expect everything from char sui pork buns, ocean trout with a walnut tator to a summery mango and passionfruit eton mess kit to tuck into on the beach.
This is Portsea after all, so they’re also offering their exclusive entertainment menu packages for all your special occasions. Joining the venture, Tori Allen Events will be creating floral arrangements and installations to meet those daily fresh flower needs.
Blakeway in Portsea is open seven days a week between 8am and 4pm.
