Bagels….an old school classic but something many of us may not have tasted since Mum packed it for us in our school lunch boxes. Well, don’t fear...because they are back and more jam-packed than ever at the new kid on the block: Bricklane Bagels.
The Kmet family spotted a gap in the market where nobody was creating open style bagels in Melbourne while also creating a cafe whose menu differs from every other regular joint. Located smack bang on the busy and bustling Clarendon St in South Melbourne, it’s set to develop a quick and steady plethora of fans as customers grab a takeaway on the way to work or sit in store for a leisurely lunch with the paper.
The space is large, open and minimalist with a large glass window at the front and wooden tables and chairs to make you feel right at home. Renowned baristas Axil Coffee Roasters are churning out takeaway coffees to sip on as you chomp away at your sesame seed bagel, chosen from an extensive menu of 15 different options. Depending on your mood, there’s a topping for everyone: with classic peanut butter and jelly to get you moving in the morning, to a Melbourne staple smashed avo, tomato and feta and for those with a sweet tooth, there’s a Nutella and cream cheese bagel topped with strawberries and slivered almonds; say no more.
The bagels are served open, so there’s no need to worry about how you are going to fit the whole thing in your mouth in one bite; quick, affordable and oh-so-delicious. So what’s your order going to be? Something whacky like tuna or pickles, or an original favourite combo like salmon and cream cheese? Whatever it is, you do not want to miss this new and trendy bagel bonanza.
