The Verdict

It’s here, North Melbourne! Burgerlove has popped up in the Central Club Hotel on Victoria St, and your arteries will never be the same again.

If you haven’t heard of Burgerlove (or #Burgerlove as they’re also known), they’re one of the city’s premier phat stack merchants. We’re talking double, triple, quad patty towers, cheese oozing all over the place, multiple sauces dripping down your chin. The sort of burgers you dream about if you get marooned on a tropical island with only coconuts for company.

By running the kitchen at Central Club, you actually get the best of both worlds here: a modern pub vibe (high ceilings, scattered greenery, hanging bulbs over the bar) PLUS a world-class burger.

When it comes time to order, the only real question is: how elastic are your pants? A modest start would be the #Burgerlove (your basic beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato and condiments), but they range all the way up to the aptly named Paralyser (brace yourself): 2 x beef patties, 3 x chicken breast fillets (two are used as the ‘bun’), 5 slices of American cheddar, 2 rashers of bacon, ketchup, mustard and aioli. Holy sweet eff.

Look—even hardcore burger pros like us balk at The Paralyser. Personally we reckon Canuck hits it just right. You get a beef patty, cheese, maple bacon, crispy onion straws, pickles and XXX BBQ sauce.

Veggos, don’t have a heart attack. Burgerlove are also one of the first venues in the country to sling the famous Beyond Meat Burger. You can get a plant-based vegan patty, vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and yellow mustard for $14.90.

You’re gonna need something to wash all that down, and Burgerlove North Melbourne are rocking several good beers on tap. Hawkers lager, a 2 Birds Taco, the Colonial South West Sour and a Treehouse Apple Cider, among others.
