THE VERDICT
Fans of the Sicilian pastry pipped full 0f creamy ricotta will be glad to know a cafe dedicated to the treat has landed in Carlton with Melbourne's cannoli king Dario Di Clerico leading the charge.
No matter the day, you can expect five flavours of cannoli up for grabs. Ranging from traditional flavours like the signature Sicilian and chocolate to innovative renditions like tiramisu and limoncello. There should always be one flavour on rotation—when we went, it was an Italian riff on a classic Tim Tam.
Whether you like them miniature or extra crunchy, these freshly-filled bad boys will have that Cannoleria signature shell that perfectly crumbles in your mouth.
Keeping inline with the Italian way of living, the team are throwing the caffetteria (macchinetta/moka pot) on the stove, pouring St Remio coffee. One pot serves two and comes with a couple of mini cannoli to complete the traditional experience.
The famous DYI kits have also made the shelves, and the ever-popular cannoli cakes can be pre-ordered online for in-store collection.
Since the inception of the Cannoleria name almost six years back, the suite of venues has continued to grow—Carlton marking as location number five and taking the crown as flagship store. Unlike its sibling venues across the city, this will be the very first of the Cannoleria stores with indoor seating to truly brace the la dolce vita lifestyle, sitting a comfortable 18 indoors.
