The Verdict
Hospitality legends and husband and wife duo Eamon and Catherine Sheahan are back with a new café in Richmond (you may know their previous café venues such as Horse To Water, Espresso3121 and Miss Frank Café).
These two clearly know cafes, which is probably why their ethos is ‘drink proper coffee’, but they’re also passionate about affordable specialty coffee—and we can definitely get around that. The coffee here is from Veneziano and they're serving up bottomless filter coffee for $5 for those freelancers out there chilling at cafes from open ‘til close.
Food wise, there are café staples with small but delicious twists like banana bread with espresso butter and chilli scrambled eggs with fried tofu—lunch break sorted.
The space, which sits below the Nova100 offices, is light-filled and calming with muted jade-green and—unsurprisingly—concrete accents.
Expect to see a lot of office workers here on their breaks, with grab-and-go offerings like their house-made granola and yoghurt pots, and seasonal salads like kale, sweetcorn, green beans and smoked almonds.
If you remember the café’s namesake (hint: it’s an 80s band), then don’t forget to mention it to Eamon. We hear he was a fan growing up.
