The Verdict
Joining a growing line up of Korean restaurants across Melbourne, Doju is a sultry fine diner on Little Collins Street that's perfect for a lunch date or post-work snack.
Head Chef and owner Mika Chae is redefining fine dining by bringing all things miso, soy and chilli from his Korean heritage to Collins Street (the name Doju even comes from Mika’s hometown Jeollanam-do and Meju).
Having moved to Melbourne in 2013, Mika has spent a decade mastering his craft and forming relationships with producers across Australia. At Doju, he even hand-picks the ingredients. This unique fusion of Australian produce and Korean cooking can be seen in every delicately-plated dish—which just so happen to be designed for sharing, so you can try many.
Our recommendation? Start with the Gochujang sourdough and oysters with dongchimi, before moving onto the Grilled market fish with makgeolli butter sauce and bulgogi Altair wagyu rib MB5+ from Gippsland. Then, to cap off your showcase, finish with the Injeolmi ice cream.
