The Verdict

Eka, which means ‘one’ in Sanskrit, has the conscious types covered out in Melbourne’s west with their bulk organic wholefoods, vegan-friendly cafe fare and a swag of workshops and events.

At Eka Wholefoods, you’ll find a strong focus on community, coffee and quality organic produce. Owners Aman Brar and Anuveer Nathan take care and pride in sourcing everything from the product they sell to the fit-out of the cafe, with much of the fixtures and artwork coming from donations and second-hand stores.

Workshops run regularly at Eka, and cover everything from how to make kefir yoghurt to raw food production. There are also regular events like vegan high tea and raw food degustation dinners.

The staff are full of knowledge and more than happy to share their wisdom no matter if you’re just dipping your toes into the world of sustainability and organic food, or if you need a refresher on the ideal climate for your scoby.
