The ultimate steak sandwich has arrived in Melbourne, and we’re absolutely jittering to get our hands on it.

From the guys behind Pound Café, Empire Steak is hoping to shine a limelight on the infamous Aussie steak sandwich. Newly opened in Little Collins Street, this 20 seater venue promises big flavours to make up for what it lacks in size!

These juicy babies feature a 125-gram lean porterhouse cooked medium, crispy white bread, onion jam and butter lettuce. You can also choose from a bunch of optional extras like fried egg and cheese. If you’re not keen for the white bread, you can be ‘healthy’ and opt for the multigrain bread (no judgement, we swear).

There’s seven delicious steak sandwiches to choose from, and even a vegetarian option of hang-crumbed mushroom for our vego pals. If you’re after a carb free meal, grab yourself a 100% grass fed steak with a bunch of delicious salads and sides.

Best bit? Even though they’ve only just opened, they’re already teaming up for a second location. So sink your teeth into one of these and celebrate the unsung hero of Australia – the holy steak sandwich.
