The Verdict
With it's New York pizzeria vibes—think statement red tables and steel-bench seating—this new Elwood eatery is the Italian streetfood location you didn't know you were missing. Co-owned by the team behind popular Hampton eatery, La Svolta, Figo is the Elwood spot you need to try, like, yesterday.
Figo is a relaxed, take-away or dine-in joint. Its 'fritto misto' (assorted fried food) menu features dishes from all over Italy, showcasing not only the delicious italian cuisine we all know and love, but the diversity of the food culture of Italy. With seafood dishes to represent the coastal regions of Italy, polenta dishes like deep fried polenta with kale and pecorino holding down the fort for the north, and deliciously indulgent arancini with basil pesto and roast veg or calamari flying the flag for Sicily, all bases are covered.
If those arent tickling your fancy, there's a wide range of traditional pizzas, as well as a 'Pizza Al Metro'—a half meter pizza with a choice of 3 toppings—and if that's really not enough, there's the ultimate hangover cure: Panzerotto fritto, which is two deep fried mini calzones, filled with proscuitto, mozarella, tomato and basil.
Praise the pizza lords, Pigo also delivers to your door. Need we say more?
