Melbourne isn’t short of Italian restaurants, but what it’s missing is a traditional salumi and formaggi bar...until now. FIGO Cantina, an Italian dine-in deli, just opened in Elwood, and we're frothing at the mouth.
In case you didn’t know, 'figo' means ‘cool’ in Italian, which is pretty appropriate for this place. FIGO Cantina takes a modern twist on Italy’s traditional salumi and formaggi restaurants and spoils Melburnians with a kickass prosciutto and mozzarella bar. It also offers Italian classics like panzerotto, deep fried mini calzone, fritto misto (assorted fried deliciousness) and fresh truffle arancini. Wait, are we in Australia or Italy? To make the whole thing even more convenient, you've still got FIGO Pizzeria right next door.
If you're having trouble deciding what you want, word on the street is that if you cry “Banchetto”, your table will be overloaded with mountains of Italian treats to sample. Say it with us: Banchetto! Banchetto!
On top of great food, FIGO Cantina also has you covered with a hefty drinks selection. Sip on Aperol Spritz, G&T or Peroni on tap while diving into antipasto. Don’t worry, they’ve got plenty of Italian vinos as well. We might have to roll you out of this place.
Bring your mates and share a few plates (hey, that rhymes). If you’re not into sharing, then you’re at the perfect spot to splurge on an Italian feast. When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore...
