The verdict
If you find yourself peckishly strolling along the beach at St Kilda West and you can’t take your eyes off the sea, here’s a perfect go-to brunch spot with alfresco dining. Good food, killer views and calming ocean air. Winner.
Professional chef and award-winning food writer Michele Curtis is flying solo with this part café, part food store, part corner milk bar that’s named after the historic venue’s ex-owner Frank and her fave Byron Bay café, The Top Shop.
Frankie’s focuses on a plant-based diet where leafy greens are the superstars (they switch it up with different salads on the daily). Mix and match the best local and seasonal proteins, nuts and fresh veg to your liking or try their lovingly crafted salad bowl specials. Ménage à trois perfection.
You’ll also be spoilt for choice with their healthy take-home meals, like heirloom cherry tomato tarts, home-made pies and rolls made with all natural ingredients. Up your kitchen game with a few things from Michele’s array of designer crockery, bread, chocolate and sauces, all ready for you to take home and get cookin’.
