The Verdict

Named after one of the original owners of St Kilda’s ancient George Hotel, Freddie Wimpoles is Melbourne’s latest old school bar boasting a range of craft beers, American-style deli food and a poolroom. Housed in the former George Hotel, Freddie Wimpoles features a rustic, neon-lit interior perfect for post-swim drinks.

Beer-drinkers can expect a generous minimum of 13 rotating craft beers on tap. The star of the show, an extensive calendar of beer-related events including monthly tap takeovers will celebrate beer in all its yeasty glory. 180 premium spirits, a boutique cocktail list and a handpicked selection of wines are also available.

Meaty menu options include slow-cooked meat sub sandwiches, hot dogs, beef jerky and house-made pickled vegetables. St Kilda beach just got a little sweeter with Freddie on board.
