The Verdict

Just a stone’s throw from Queen Victoria Market, this gorgeous little Japanese cafe and bakery in West Melbourne is here to fulfil all your cheesecake and panko crumb cravings.

Fuumi Fuumi serve freshly baked Japanese bread, loaded sandos and super-tempting sweets along with Toby Estate coffee. We’d recommend a morning visit if you want to buy some bread though—after only two weeks of business, these loaves are already known to sell out by the afternoon.

The menu is definitely worth trekking towards the city for. The made-to-order tonkatsu sando is a must, filled with crispy panko crumbed, juicy pork chop, special tonkatsu sauce and cabbage slaw on their signature nama shokupan bread. The fried ebi sando is another winner, stuffed with prawns, avocado and egg salad. Try the creamy basque cheesecake to finish.
