The Verdict

We haven’t been this excited about a new launch in years. Dessert queen Christy Tania’s boutique ice-creamery is open for business, and the child inside us is weeping hysterically.

If you’ve been listing your address as ‘Under a rock’ for the last few years, you might not have heard of ex Om Nom superstar Tania. For everyone else, she’ll go down in history as the Masterchef guest judge that made contestants cook a ‘floating’ ice-cream. A Willy Wonka style genius, up there with Zumbo and Anna Polyviou.

Glacé is her first bricks and mortar store, a boutique ice-cream parlour that’s popped up on Peel St in Windsor (to the delight of everyone who lives within 200m of Peel St in Windsor).

The concept is, frankly, awesome: A range of artisan ice-creams and sorbets in flavours like Boozy Date (sticky date pudding soaked in rum with vanilla ice-cream), Ginger Spice (vanilla ice-cream with salted butterscotch and gingerbread crumble) or Coffee Caramel (caramel milk choc ice-cream with Kahlua and orange cinnamon crumble).

The store opens at 7:30 for coffees, but you can start getting actual desserts from 10am. Tania’s signature ‘push-pop’ ice creams are there, of course, priced according to the number of layers you cram into your pop. With flavours like Charlie Bucket (banana ice-cream, peanut butter swirl, butterscotch and actual freakin’ banana bread) and After8 (River Mint ice-cream with crunchy dark choc pearls), that price could balloon quite quickly...

There’ll also be a range of artisan éclairs, takeaway cakes and other goodies to sink your rapidly decaying teeth into. As if Windsor didn’t have enough to gloat about already...
