The Verdict

Transport yourself back to the 1970’s in this lavish, mossy green-walled bar nestled at the end of a laneway near Federation square. Sister restaurant to the middle Eastern eatery Souk, Handsome Bar gives off the vibe off a 70’s mansion with velvety couches, bronzy metallic tables and dim lighting. Closed Mondays and Sundays, the venue is open from the afternoon until late Tuesday to Saturday, perfect for a knock-off drink after work or a cheeky cocktail before the clock strikes midnight.

Forget Aperol Spritzes and mojitos, this cocktail menu will blow your socks off with some wacky ingredients like fruit loops, beetroot brine and fresh chilli. For those with a sweet tooth, we recommend the ‘You Give Me Fever’ concoction featuring whiskey, hazelnut liquor, strawberry jam and peanut butter foam, my god. All drinks and snacks are plant-based, with the ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ being a favourite amongst vegetarians with tomato juice, harissa, olive and vegemite brine.

Handsome has a few fancy bites to keep your appetite at bay, including porcini truffle parfait or bone marrow eggplant fondue. Bringing you a bunch of modern and eclectic twists on old favourites, this bar is taking the cocktail and bar snack game up more than just one notch so grab some mates and roll on into Handsome.
