The Verdict
In a street saturated by Italian restaurants, this Korean BBQ venue is taking Lygon Street up a notch.
Hwatu serves authentic Korean BBQ and pocha, and is open seven days a week until 2am! So late night eats just got a whole lot better. If you’re feeling like more of a daytime visit, Hwatu’s lunch service runs from 12-3pm.
There’s five different BBQ set menus to pick from, but individual meat options are also available to choose. From wagyu scotch fillet to crispy pig skin, you’re in for the ultimate Korean BBQ experience.
Lunch also features a bunch of exclusive options. Think grilled pork belly burgers, Korean fried chicken, and tuna and spam rice bowls. While this menu definitely isn’t a classic for Lygon Street, it’s sure to be well received by everyone who visits.
