The Verdict

Surely, Melbourne is approaching its maximum capacity of gelato per capita? Well, not according to lines outside Prahran’s newest eatery Joylati! Run by the experienced Italian duo Cristino Vedovato and Fabrizio Locatelli, Joyalati only uses fresh fruit and organic milk and sugar to churn their creamy creations, so you can rest assured that your gelato is some of the finest dessert in Melbourne.

At this southside venue, gelato is hidden underneath traditional pozzetti cabinets to protect the precious product. Joylati’s 26 rotating flavours are displayed on miniature wooden boards, with two chocolate taps available for filling cones. Yes, you definitely need the extra chocolate.

The bright, playful space features a static chocolate wall, open timber floor and European, pale blue tiling. We’re already screaming for Joylati’s ice-cream. Quick dessert break, anyone?
